The Navy and SANDAG have signed an agreement that marks a commitment by the Navy at the highest levels to support the ongoing collaboration and cooperation between the Navy and SANDAG as we all work together to try to revitalize the Naval Base Point Loma (NBPL) Old Town Campus (OTC), and both potentially build facilities that meet the Navy’s mission critical needs and support the San Diego region’s wider development goals.

With this Agreement, we are taking our long partnership a step further, moving forward on a plan that will better protect our nation and invest in the community,” said Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer.

The new agreement commits all levels of the Navy to ongoing community engagement, as appropriate, as this revitalization effort moves forward. The Navy continues to work throughout the country to modernize our installations and facilities to meet the needs of 21st century naval warfare.

This agreement serves as a framework for discussions between the Navy and SANDAG as we work together to evaluate potential options for NBPL OTC.  The Navy and SANDAG agree that redevelopment of the site to provide mission capable facilities for Naval Information Warfare Systems Command, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, and other tenant commands is the primary goal of this agreement.  We are continuing on a path that will allow us potentially to provide new, modern facilities to meet the Navy’s critical information warfare needs while providing robust support for the communities so many of our Sailors call home.
