Nashville, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has reached commercial close with DriveTN, the selected partner for the I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes project.
Commercial close establishes the contractual framework for DriveTN to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain the Choice Lanes under a 50-year long-term contract. The milestone follows the Transportation Modernization Board’s approval of TDOT’s selection of DriveTN at its August 19 meeting.
The project is the state’s first Choice Lanes facility. It will actively manage traffic from Nashville to Murfreesboro and give Tennesseans the power to choose how they travel the most congested corridor in the state. TDOT and DriveTN will now work toward financial close, the final procurement milestone, in 2027.
The public will have an opportunity to learn more about DriveTN’s technical proposal at open house meetings planned for November. Dates, locations, and additional meeting information will be announced in the coming weeks.
About the Project
The proposed project would construct new, optional Choice Lanes on approximately 26 miles of I-24 between Nashville and Murfreesboro in Davidson and Rutherford counties. The proposed I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes project would increase capacity, improve travel times and address limited funding to accelerate project delivery.
